In commemoration of the 300-hundreth anniversary of Johan Olofsson Dalkarl, later Stiernhöök's, birth this memorial was erected in 1896.
Stiernhöök, who has been called "the father of Swedish law", had his parental home on this spot.
Our prime lawyer during the Swedish Great Power era, who was ennobled for his achievements, first saw the light of day on the simple "Kaplagården" on "Hökbacken" in Rättvik.
In Rättvik's town hall you can find out more about him, in both text as well as pictures.
The memorial is situated 1,5 km from the centre of Rättvik, between the church and the railway station.
